Exploring My Artistic Side: A Journey into Design

While my primary passion lies in information technology, I've always held a deep appreciation for the arts. Among my creative pursuits, playing musical instruments like the guitar and piano has brought me joy and emotional expression. But it’s within the world of visual arts—particularly design—where I’ve truly found my calling.

My journey into design began when I was around 12 or 13, sparked by a beloved game at the time: Plants vs. Zombies. After finishing the game several times, I was inspired to put my own spin on it. While my programming skills were still limited, I discovered that I could modify the game’s visuals using Photoshop. Though I couldn’t alter the mechanics, I managed to adjust the graphics to better reflect my personal style. The results were far from perfect—but the thrill of creation was undeniable. That early experiment ignited a lasting passion for graphic design.

As my skills grew, so did the opportunities to apply them—especially through my involvement in student organizations. A key milestone was my work with AVI (you can learn more in the “Associations” section under “Activities – Interests”), where I was in charge of designing event posters. I drew inspiration from platforms like Pinterest and Freepik, and brought my ideas to life using Adobe Photoshop. The positive feedback from AVI members, along with the real-world impact of my designs in attracting participants, deeply encouraged me to keep creating.

Each poster was more than just a promotional tool—it was a canvas to express creativity, evoke emotion, and communicate meaning. Through countless hours of experimentation and iteration, I’ve come to appreciate design not just as an art, but as a powerful form of storytelling.

Looking ahead, I’m excited to continue exploring the endless possibilities in the world of design—whether through digital art, illustration, or other creative avenues. I’m committed to sharpening my skills, expanding my toolkit, and pushing the boundaries of what I can create.

In short, my design journey has been both transformative and deeply rewarding. From customizing game graphics as a curious kid to designing compelling visuals for real-life events, every step has reaffirmed my passion for artistic expression. I’m eager for what lies ahead and look forward to growing further as a designer.
